CLEMENTINE HUSTON WORK

ASSIGNMENT:

Following our visit to the New Museum's New Humans: Memories of the Future exhibit:

Choose two artworks by two different artists in the exhibit. Take pictures of the work and complete the following for each of them.

Nam June Paik; Bakelight Robot

2002

Made from single channel video, LCD monitors, bakelite radios, electric lights, and media players.

The entire sculpture is structures by these bakelite radios, they are stacked and stuck together to outline the shape of a robot.

Materials include permanent markers,  channel video, LCD monitors, bakelite radios, electric lights, and media players.

I’m unsure of the wiring for the videos, however I know Paik removed parts of the radios to include the video monitors. The monitors switch between images of different robots he created outside this project.

Earlier in the semester we talked about Paik’s work, The Electronic Superhighway. Later in the semester I ended up doing a research paper based off that work. I’ve taken a liking towards his work and involvment in the electronic revolution in art.
